Hi! My name is Sydney Higgins I am from Grant, Michigan currently living in Grand Rapids.I currently attend Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University for my Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration and I am also pursuing a certificate for Natural Science Illustration. Usually I create with watercolors, oil paints and colored pencils. I specialize in highlighting endangered species as well as common species found in Michigan. During the summer of 2024 I was an artist in residence at Pierce Cedar Creek for five weeks. In September of 2024 I participated in the Paint My Ride sponsored by ArtPrize and West Michigan Honda. Participating in this allowed me to create my first mural where I painted glow squids on a Honda SUV. Most recently Ferris State University chose my Swan oil painting to promote the Illustration program by displaying my art on a billboard during ArtPrize. Right now I am working on a children’s book about the Eastern Massasauga Rattle Snake and planning mural work.
